Hi Friends and Family.....
The countdown is on.....8 more weeks. I am hoping for maybe 6-7 weeks and I go a bit early-just want to be full term and the baby healthy. My mom is thinking that I will go early-but I have heard that most first time times go later than the due date.
We had a doctors appointment on Monday and everything was great. The baby's head is down and has been for the past 4 weeks. The doctor said that he/she is floating down by my pelvis. The heart rate was low-125 this time. Now, I am having second guesses about my girl. I have always thought that I was having a girl but now I am thinking boy. Who knows??!! Charlie was reading an article about how a mom who is college educated, is likely 70% to pick what she is having correctly. I thought that was interesting.
I am feeling much better than last week. My back pain went away and I am feeling good. My student teacher left this past week so I am full on teaching now. It is good to be back but I am tired at night. Charlie has been reading books and playing music for the baby. I still cant believe in eight weeks that I am going to be a mom. I am getting so excited. We toured the hospital rooms last night and that was really fun-at our lamaze class. We did watch a couple movies on Cesarean births, epidurals, and natural births at our class. It was informative but made me a bit nervous. I really do not want to have a cesarean birth.
As far as how our baby is growing...
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
I think we have almost everything ready. There is not much we need for the nursery or for the baby. We are going to start packing our bags for the hospital in early January. I am heading to doctor appointments every two weeks-which feels like every other day :) The doctor said that he wont let me go past 41 weeks and will schedule an induction-which I really don't want either. I just want it to happen naturally.
I will post pictures tonight. Keep the prayers coming for a healthy baby :)
