Today is a great day! I have been waiting for this appointment for the past four weeks. I think in my heart of hearts, I have just wanted to hear that heartbeat closer to the end of the the first trimester and everything would be okay. God is so good!
So, todays appointment went really well. Charlie went with me-which was a great surprise because he had a work meeting that I didnt think he would be able to get out of. It was just what I needed because Charlie provides me with a sense of calm that I needed this morning. I ended up getting sick right before I left for the appointment. I think it was a mix of nerves and this terrible morning sickness.
We got to hear the heartbeat and it was in the mid 160's. It was such a great sound. I felt much better because at our 7 week ultrasound, the heartbeat was in the 120's. I, also, got to ask my doctor a couple questions and he set my worries at ease. He said that half the stuff that you read in the pregnancy books are a bit on crazy side. He said that some of the stuff worries people more than than help-like the heart rate during exercising and mercury in seafood. That made me feel a lot better because it seems like a lot changes once you get pregnant. My mom always says that she is glad that my brother and I turned out okay because the only thing that the doctor said was to not drink or smoke.
I had no weight gain this month. I thought for sure that I had gained weight because I am feeling a bit pudgy. Our doctor asked if I had noticed any body changes and maybe I have noticed a bit-depends on the day. The doctor said that since my uterus is moving into my abdomen in the upcoming weeks and since I am on the smaller side, I should be noticing some changes soon.
